In Honor of Laurie

When: We hope to honor her at the Christmas Party

Please work on notes of thanks and well wishes to Laurie for her service to our club.  We will compile them in a book to present to her. Scanned pictures of Rotarians and spouse can be included too. We think she'd really like that.  Send all notes and pictures to: kenmorerotary@aol.com.  Or mail in to the Rotary Office

President Larry brought the meeting to order calling on Mike Austin to give the invocation followed by the singing of God Bless America.  We had two visitors Fred Batson and previous Kenmore Rotarian Reverend George Schatzle visiting from Sheboygan, Wisconsin.  A pretty poor attempt at singing Give My Regards to Broadway! Thanks for trying to cover for Joe Starck, Stu.

Announcements included the Inter Service Clubs Thanksgiving Dinner on November 13 at 6:30. RSVP to President Larry. Please complete our Rotary survey. Joe Starck announced the start of Operation Santa. The clubs Christmas Party will be held on Monday, December 3 at Shaun Patricks. Stu Schnettler announced that our website is up and he is looking for information to post.  Also developing  ads for members and the community. Sunday November 4 is the Rotary International Foundation dinner in Rochester.

Finemaster Tony Decillis called for confessions, Mike Austin attended a convention in Phoenix, Tom Lippard returned from Vegas were his son was married, Art Travers has sent and received(?) 1119 Rotary emails! Paul Chisholm finally brought his mother home from Florida to see her grandson. Paul also told us about the television commercial he is starring in. Mike Hettler and Tony Decillis confessed to recent trips. Tony next proceeded to see how much we know about President Larry and apparently we know him pretty good but there is  one outstanding question about  boxers or briefs! Shari what's the answer!

Our speaker Dr. Bob Werner talked about the history of our club by taking us on a trip down memory lane along Delaware Ave starting with our first meeting place in 1924 at the YMCA. Our first President was Frank Moore who became Lt. Governor of NYS. Bob talked about his family history growing up in Kenmore and the Rotary business men who had their businesses on Delaware including his Dad ( Werners Delicatessen), Jack Thompson, Paul Norton, Al McMullen, Trev Rogers Harry Goss and others ! Do you remember Watsons Restaurant, Siefert Shoes, Donavan's Drug Store and Sutherland Office Furniture. What great memories. Before we knew it our time was up. Bob graciously agreed to come back and finish his presentation. Thanks Bob. Great job!
