The Ken February 9, 2015
Another cold Monday that brought out at least enough members to make quorum. We enjoyed chicken cacciatore, penne pasta, fresh salad and chicken Milanese. Paul started us with the Pledge followed by God Bless America in the key of Chuck P. John Coogan gave our invocation and asked that we keep Dominic Hoffert's family in our prayers. I was asked to inform the membership that there will be a memorial service for Dom, Saturday Feb. 21 at St Christopher's RC Church on Niagara Falls Blvd. We are not sure of the time but were told most likely 9:30 a,m. I will  forward you the details as thay become available.

We had 2 visitors today, both from Buffalo. They were Mike Ryan and Rich Adams. Announcements followed. Shari asked us to make our wives put the date on our calendars for the wine tasting event May 13. We are still looking for table sponsors. Chuck P announced that he had the Nonsense II tickets with him. If you were not at the meeting but intend on going, contact Chuck for your ticket. He also mentioned that we entered a Chili contest sponsored by the Buffalo Medical Campus Rotary Club. We will have a  taste off with in our club to submit to the contest. I am sure there will be untimely vibrations of the lower lumbar during that meeting. Stay tuned (No pun intended).

Paul proceeded to the special part of our meeting. Accepting the Rotary constitution and accepting the changes to our by laws. Both passed.

Rick Graham was our fine master today. There were no confessions. With respect for Dominick, Rick took the humorous path as Dom so often did as our president who followed Rick Grahams term. However, the club found no humor in IRS stuff. Shari even swore at one point. Rick's challenge was to raise fine money which he did.

Tim Glor won the split club and Shari broke in a new deck of cards when she drew the 8 of Spades. Sounds close but no go.

At this time, Paul introduced our speaker. Melissa Kate Miller of Young Audiences Western New York, www.yawny.org. Melissa is an artist, dancer and overall performer. YAWNY is an advocate of keeping arts in the schools. She told a story of one of the students that was told to join in the group or go to jail. The young man joined up but stayed on the sidelines. At the end of the session he presented her with a wonderful poem. Evidence of the effect of this program. There are several international artists on their rooster. They operate in all 8 counties of WNY. At this time Melissa called on Art who called on Renee who called on Byrden who called on Chuck to come up for roll playing. I got a little creeped out when she said we should all wrap our arms around Art when she meant wrap our arms around art. Nevertheless it was well played out. The 4 were great sports and had some fun. Melissa's charity we are to contribute to is the VA.

Meeting adjourned.
