Speaker: Taylor Van Ness, Grants and Contract Manager with Salvation Army. Taylor provided those
in attendance with a plethora of information in regards to what Salvation Army has to offer from
emergency needs/shelter, utility assistance, assisting families and children throughout the holiday
season, youth/summer programs along with after school assistance. They have been selected as a
“code blue” location offering overnight stay for up to 80 individuals.
The Salvation Army of Buffalo is currently in the “silent phase” of a Capital Campaign “Hope on Main”
which is proposing to revitalize their nearly three-acre campus along Main Street by providing a
seven-story 147-unit apartment building and three-story 80-bed emergency shelter along Main
Street, and 16 two-story townhouses along North Pearl Street. The existing building at 960 Main
Street will remain and continue to be utilized for The Salvation Army administrative and program
space. A majority of their funding to date has come from the Federal Government.
There are several volunteer opportunities including the holiday Toy Shop, in which volunteers assist
parents in shopping for their children, sorting food for the food pantry and many more. To learn
more about our areas Salvation Army, please click on the link:

Pat G. won the split club and …. I was talking and missed who “did not” pick the ace of spades!!
Confessions:
Cam confessed he was in NYC and was under the weather
Sue J. threw in $5 happy as a “congratulation” to Ed H. for successfully running the Turkey Trot –
and Ed matched it!
