The Ken April 9
Attendance: Dick Hanaburgh
Split Club: Bill Brucker
Invocation:  John Coogan
Fine master:  Mike Ford
The Ken: Jeff Markarian
Tom began our meeting with the Pledge followed by “America”. John Coogan gave the invocation. Dick H announced our guests today. Mitch Flynn and Justine Jopp, both with Ride for Roswell.
Our first announcement was from Tom. He thanked Chuck and Mary Kay for a beautiful evening Friday night. Everyone had a blast. Word has it there was a cherry cobbler that Paul was claiming it was a pie. He was not being very sensitive to all the other pies. It is clear the crusts are different. Tom’s only complaint was that John Coogan parked his jag in the president’s spot. John, I would park in the Mayors spot or maybe even the Chief of Police’s spot, but never our president’s spot. Lastly, Tom mentioned the speaker lists will be on Google Drive. If you have a speaker, please use that to enter the program. Other announcements: Rick Graham is happy with the sponsorships for the Wine Event. Could use more. Please get the sponsors money in. And we must have the names of the people so it goes smoothly at the greeting desk. We still need some wine to fill the cooler. Rick reminded us our day at the Science museum is 4/28. Art will have our Rotary cards by then to show at the admissions gate. You can go anytime, there will also be discounts offered to become an annual member. There will be a signup sheet next week. Dick will have a Shred-It meeting after the meeting today and one more after next week’s meeting. Please pick up signs and place them at your place of business. Dick will email signup sheets this week.
Mike Ford was thrown into fine mastership at the last minute. He welcomed Gary back from heart surgery. Gary said that this proves he has one. Mike fined himself for a great turnout at his flag football fund raiser. Their team went all the way. Paul had fine money from Phil M for not being able to attend this meeting. Mike A. confessed to being a Sabres season ticket holder. He’s happy to say he does not have to suffer through any more games. Chuck confessed that Mary Kay’s son’s wedding is coming up. They will attend the wedding then gypsy around for a few weeks. Holly is on vacation next week. Rick Graham won the jackpot at the Casino this week end. Dick forgot he was attendance this week so thanked Ron for stepping up. And tomorrow is Dick’s daughter’s birthday. He won’t forget that. Mike quizzed the room on the college draft. More precisely the quarterbacks that are available.
Art won the split club and Dick missed the Ace.
Mitch Flynn and Justine Jopp took over and presented their program on Ride for Roswell. The ride is one of the nation’s largest cycling events – a life changing experience for riders, for volunteers and for the cancer patients who benefit from the funds raised. Mitch took us through the history of raising funds for this event starting in 1996 up to today. All fund goes to facilities and patient care and research. The ride this year is June 23. Great program.
