Invocation: Tim Glor

The meeting was called to order by President Brandon at 12:25 p.m. with a pledge to the Flag and a prayer by Tim Glor.

Announcements: Holly shared that Sunshine Day at Cradle Beach is on Wednesday August 17 and will be a little different this year. Rotarians to meet there at 5:30 p.m. for dinner cooked on the grill by Steve Blass. Holly has a bounce house, face painting by the staff of HMN Resources and goodies for the campers. The event will kick off at 7 p.m. and will be another fun filled time for the kids and Rotarians alike. Holly passed around a sign-up sheet for volunteers and if you’d like to be added, please contact her. Holly also sent out the KEN-toberfest brochure (several times) for all to share. Cameron then elaborated on that event, which will be held on Saturday September 24 from 1-7 p.m. at the Village Green in front of the Municipal Building in Kenmore. There will be a dunk tank, DJ playing German music along with all time favorites, 50/50 raffle, and beer garden. Local police will provide security. Cam is asking for Rotarian volunteers to help for at least 1-2 hours, longer if you’re willing! Please reach out to him. Brandon reminded everyone on the upcoming Bison’s Baseball Night, Friday August 26 at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are $12 per person with RSVP and payment no later than August 15 to kenmorerotarypresident@gmail.com. It’s a Friday Night Bash with fireworks to follow the game. Friends and family welcome!

Brandon then welcomed our speaker, Anthony Billoni, owner of Apex Leader Growth, LLC. Anthony was a very engaging speaker, who spoke about defining innovation, creativity, and imagination. He “shares essential lessons to engage others to GET BETTER FASTER.” We participated in an exercise in problem solving where we thought of a problem/challenge, either personal or work related, at the beginning and then found a picture or phrase among the many that Anthony provided, that defined that situation. Cam and Phil shared theirs and it was very insightful. You can contact Anthony at anthony@apexleadergrowth.com or 716-857-0527 for more information or the opportunity to have him present to your office/work place. It would be well worth it!

Split club of $17 was won by Dick, and Donna picked for the Ace but chose the 3 of hearts instead. Brandon confirmed the Ace is still in the deck!

Jim Logan, before asking for confessions, let the club know that Chuck Patterson suffered a stroke last week. Thankfully he was home and it was noticed very early. He was rushed to the hospital and he’s doing well and is now home. Please keep Chuck in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. Jim quizzed us on August trivia and the table with the least wins had to pay a $3 fine per person. What made headlines on 8/8/1963? The great train robbery. “August” is the 10th solo album by what artist? Eric Clapton. Who knew?  Cam reminded us that there’s a KEN-toberfest meeting on Wednesday 8/10 for those on the committee. There’s no speaker on 8/15 and the speaker for 8/22 is Amanda Scott, Elder law attorney with Pfalzgraf, Beinhauer, Grear, Harris, Schuller. Also, no meeting on September 5 in observance of Labor Day.

Meeting adjourned at 1:32
