Donna began our meeting on time with the Pledge. Rick Graham gave a fine invocation. Our guest today was our speaker, Ed Walker. Mike Ford pitched the New Member Orientation you all received an email on. Let Mike know if you can go. Mike Ford, Jim Logan and Paul Chisolm are putting together a Scotch and cigar evening at the PCC June 24. Details to follow. Pat Griffin procured Shred It for April 25 from 10:00 – 2:00. Holly announced that the Wine Event committee will meet at the Delaware, 1/27 at 5:30. Please join in and help make our #1 Fund Raiser a success. Donna reminded us that the Purple Pinky will be held 1/23 and 1/24 throughout 7 schools between 10:30 – 1:15. I’m thinking best to touch base with Larry for coordination. Finally, There will not be a meeting 1/20 in honor of Martin Luther King Holiday.
Donna won the split club and John Coogan won the Ace. I had a hunch so I bought his chance for $20. My sponsor told me that little relapses are normal and to get to meeting right away.
Mike Austin was the fine master. He thanked Jim for stepping up for him last week. Pat Griffin confessed to a new part time job. Grand Jury Duty. Chuck Patterson published a piece he wrote on the internet. I think I heard him say Sci-Fi. Please correct me Chuck if I have this wrong. Nevertheless. Congratulations. Mike gave us general trivia.
Cathy Introduced Ed Walker, who stood in for our scheduled speaker who was ill. Ed is with the Census Bureau. This is the largest statistical agency in the US. Their objective is to count everyone once in the US for 2020. They intend to have a snap shot of our current population. It is an incredible endeavor. The information gathered will affect us for the next 10 years. For example, it determines the number of seats each state has in the House of Representatives. It determines the annual allocation of $675 billion in federal funding. And so much more. Very interesting topic that was well delivered
