Donna began our meeting promptly. We gave our Pledge. Cathy led us in “God Bless America”. Larry gave our invocation. Guests today were Darcy France, Shelia Gueti and Christy Sharky. There is a signup sheet for the “Hole in One” contest at Sheridan Park Goff Course. Our Rotary club needs to have 2 volunteers from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm July 15 to sell chances for a hole in one prize. We talked about the Installation of officer’s party Wednesday evening. Ride for Roswell needs volunteers. Larry said RYLA went real well as expected last week.
Mike Ford won the split club and Cathy missed the Ace.
Dick H came up as fine master. John Coogan confessed to being in Aruba last week. Phil’s daughter became a North Carolina Deputy Sheriff and his son’s family is expecting in July. Dick quizzed us on trivia.
Larry introduced Darcy and Sheila. Shelia is a junior at Kenmore West. She is the president of Interact. You have seen her at many of our Rotary events like Shred It. She and Darcy explained the projects they do at school. They include events like carnation sale for St. Valentine’s Day, Kiss a senior, where they wrap up Hershey kisses and present them to graduating seniors, and Purple pinky. All proceeds go to community programs. The Interact club recognizes 1 student each quarter for exemplary acts of kindness. Each recipient gets their name posted on the school bulletin board and has a letter sent to their families. They also get a lunch gift card. Sheila asked that our Rotary club donate funding for the 4 quarterly gift cards. Sheila was a confident speaker that gave us all a little insight as to what Interact does.
