The Ken March 12, 2018
Attendance: Bill Brucker
Split Club: Damon Piatek
Invocation:  John Coogan
Fine master:  Ed Markarian
The Ken: Jeff Markarian
Tom began our meeting with the Pledge followed with “America”. John Coogan gave the invocation. John asked to keep Gary Roberts in our thoughts. Gary is having a procedure out of Town.
Our only guest today was our speaker, Deanna Bednarz.
Announcements: We procured Park Country Club for our Installation of officer’s event 6/28. Details to follow. Dick has Shred-It going well. Larry would like any lawn signs brought back to re-use. Mike Ford has an event going at work, “Blonds vs. Brunets”. He thought maybe we can tie Rotary in with it. Art asked if we needed the money. Our board will discuss it and get back to us. President elect, Donna D. confessed to having her first grandchild, Hudson. A healthy baby boy. BTW Donna, Pat confessed on your behalf before the baby was born. We did not want to post anything until it was official. Congratulations. Art recognized Paul for contributing anonymously $20 for his piece of pie last week. Thanks Paul, you made me and Coogs feel like schmucks as we devoured ours but never thought to contribute. Eddie, you can get me next week.
With no further announcements, Eddie took over as fine master. Anyone who attended a UB sporting event this year was exempt from fines. Mike A. reported that Jim Austin had a hip replacement and is recovering great. Good luck and hurry back Jim. Sue J. chimed in that the surgery was at Kenmore Mercy Hospital. No fine for Jim but Sue had to pay for advertising. Eddie quizzed us on March madness. It appears many of the guys are following closely. Eddie then proceeded to run the Armenian Raffle. It seemed like we sold many $10 tickets but not all yet. To be continued next week. The winner gets a $200 gift Certificate to Jovi’s.
Art won the split club and Damon won the Ace of Spades. Way to go Damon.
Mike Ford introduced a colleague and a friend Deanna Bednarz. Deanna is a care giver and wellness coordinator. She can be found at the Pride Center of WNY. Their mission is to work with the community to make WNY a safe, healthy and satisfying place for LGBTQ people to live, work and establish their families. Programs and services include aging, arts and culture, health, pride works and support.
This was an enlightening program with many question to follow. Deanna chose the Pride Center as her charitable organization that we will donate to on behalf of her speaking.
