The Ken May 3, 2021
Dick opened the meeting at The Paddock Golf Dome at 12:40 with the pledge of Allegiance. We forgot our invocation today and was disappointed not to hear words of wisdom from brother John C. Our guests today were our speaker Cloe Wingerter of John Snow, Inc and Linda Sroka with Schofield Care. Linda has her application in to become our newest Rotarian. Welcome aboard Lynn.
Chloe had an afternoon engagement so had to present before lunch. Pat introduced us to her as we placed our lunch order. Her talk today was “Food for Thought”. This was an interesting discussion based on supporting food systems for the community and economic development. Their goal is to create a more vibrant and equitable food system for historically underserved communities by improving accessibility and affordability of healthy, locally grown food. It stimulated many questions that Chloe answered.
Dick continued our meeting as we ate our lunch. Larry mentioned that the Slap Shot was being held this week end virtually. Dick thanked this large turn out for getting back to normal. Mike Ford was the fine master. He exempted me from fines because Pat was trying to throw me under the bus with last weeks Ken. I guess Pat expected me to proofread his Ken. All though Pat’s penmanship was lovely I just copied it, turned it into a PDF, and pasted. Sorry buddy. Anyone without a name tag or a pin was fined. I think that’s code for “I wasn’t told I was Fine Master today”.
Gary Roberts won the split club and I missed the Ace of Spades.
