Speaker
Beth Slazak, Manager of Education and Events, from Creative Education Foundation – a 501c3 NonProfit, found by Sid Parnes and LeRoy Osborn. , explored creativity vs. artistic.  We are all creative.
The history of creativity has a big buffalo draw, Sid Parnes and LeRoy Osborn.  Brainstorming is a buffalo thing!  Improving motivation at work, improving communication at home and at work and improves teamwork in organizations, profit and nonprofit alike.
CEF loves teaching people how to be more creative.  Humans are wildly creative and can become more creative, you can lean to tap into.
Talked about CPSI in Buffalo and also in Sarasota FL in March.  You can get certified in Creative Problem Solving.  They do on-site and virtual training in creative problem solving as well.  Leveling up virtual meetings, communication sessions – different ways to communicate messages.  Tolerance for ambiguity and dealing with adversity.
Talked about the basics of creativity.  What are the foundations of being creative.  3 elements
1. Divergent and Convergent thinking.  Used analogy of trick or treating Divergent = the most candy you could get, Convergent = sorting through it when you get home, safety, what you don’t like but your sister does, scary but interesting candies to save for later.
2. Phrasing challenges as questions.  “I don’t like…” statements get you nowhere.  If phrase challenge as a question you can’t help but answer it.  Try: “What might be all the….”.
3. Yes, and… as a mindset you can start creating more interesting outcomes.  Yes, and how can we make this work.
Don’t forget you are creative!  You can learn how to leverage with questions to get better solutions and you can improve with training.
